Whether its a chair, a pillow, a clutch, or a great pair or printed shoes... its a really fun way to liven up a room, or an outfit...

these carpets are too perfect. understated yet so exciting.

BEAUTIFUL BAND-AIDS

As much as we might not like to wear them, we all have to sport a Band-Aid every now and again.
Cynthia Rowley has took it upon herself to make Band-Aid wearing glamorous, and [I think] they are completely fashionably acceptable...

she even thought of a way to dress up the smallest of ouchies...

DELICIOUS DELIGHTS

Ever since I shared my go-to summer cocktail on A Diary of Lovely, it got me thinking about other refreshing and light cocktails that will linger into fall (or maybe you will just fall in love with and drink all year!) ... so, as we go into one of the last weekends in August, I thought I would share a few of these easy and delicious recipes!
In a glass or shaker place 6 to 10 blackberries, and 1 teaspoon sugar, and meddle well until the juices from the blackberries combine with the sugar to make the mixture liquid, not dry. Add 1 ounce Bacardi Razz, a splash of club soda, 1/2 lime squeezed and crushed ice. Top it with a little mint, stir very well and strain of the ice.
Add 1 ounce Lillet Blanc, 1 ounce fresh orange juice, 1/2 ounce orange flavored soda water, and crushed ice. Stir well and garnish with an orange slice.
In a champagne glass, fill half the glass with champagne, add 1/2 ounce St.Germain, a splash of club soda and garnish with a few raspberries!

I hope you have the chance to enjoy one of these delights.. let me know if you do, and what your favorite is!

VOTE FOR RUTH!

Ruth Harvey is an extremely talented creative director here in Minneapolis (whom I have had the pleasure of working with the last month or so), and when it came to creating inspired spaces in her own home, Ruth and interior designer Cy Winship drove it out of the park.. (think houndstooth floor people)!

The way that Ruth and Cy made these patterns work together and create a welcoming space that still is fresh and exciting is stunning.  Ruth says, "We call this our "Afro-Punk room, it was inspired the mix of patterns and fabrics that the local Somali women wear... None of the patterns and colors particularly match, but somehow they effortlessly work together"

"I wanted my home to reflect passions, be a place where my friends wanted to hang out, and exude the fun personality of my family" says Ruth.

Seriously... I'm drooling over here... I need a floor like that one day!

Stylish and modern, this kitchen is still fit for a great family gathering...

THE NATURE OF A WORK SPACE

The look of these bare and untouched desks in more polished office spaces really brings them down to earth. They are unexpected and inspiring...

MUTED MADNESS

I think my love of black and white has been pretty professed, but, these muted color palettes are timeless, classic, and have a subtle element of glamour...

The mirror in front of the fireplace is a welcome diversion from the aesthetic that a fireplace usually brings to a room... the lucite tables don't hurt either!

I love the way that there is no seperation in this shelving... it leads to a flawless and lingering look.

the floors... oh the floors...

WORDS OF WISDOM

INSPIRE ME!

Today is finally the day I have been talking about on this blog for a few weeks now, and am so excited about! I have been styling an add campaign that a local photographer is shooting for Budget Blinds. You can see their adds in Elle Decor, House Beautiful, and a number of other shelter publications. While I'm loving the styling aspect, today the shoot is in my house, and I'm the model (eek!). I'm really excited to share the final shots with you as soon as they cross my desk, but for today... here is my inspiration...

BUNCHES OF BOOKS

Since I have started to really fine tune my apartment and office for a photoshoot this week (which I can't wait to share about later!) I have begun to pay attention to the things that really make my "house" a "home". One of them is the stacks of books and magazines. I have always loved these, and have really implemented the look in my own little vignettes, but I have also realized what I love so much about the look..

these stacks hold books that are close to you, books with memories, travel destinations,  and inspirations...

they act as the perfect tabletop for a sweet flower arrangement...

they fill up spaces in a way other items simply can't...

and as a little tabletop for other items too...

they are a side table unlike any other...

and a source of inspiration when you just want a lazy afternoon in bed...

with all of these lovely ideas, I may just have to add a little stack to everyroom!
